Karaj-Qom and Qazvin-Tehran state-owned freeways are set to be handed over to the private sector for restoration, announced the head of Road Maintenance and Transport Organization, Davoud Keshavarzian, at a conference on investment opportunities in road maintenance and transport sector on Monday. Keshavarzian noted that the private sector can raise revenue through toll collection. According to the official, plans are underway to also assign freeway-widening projects to the private sector.
