Managing director of Iran Aseman Airlines has announced that two Boeing 737-400 are being made ready to enter the country’s air fleet. “All conditions and regulations of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization were met in purchasing these two airplanes, each a capacity of 150 passengers,” Hossein Alaei added. The official did not make any comments about the age of the two planes. However, Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization bans Iranian airlines from purchasing or leasing aircraft of more than 15 years of age. Three Airbus 320 were also added to the airline’s fleet in March, ISNA quoted him as saying. Iranian officials have said the country’s commercial airliners will need as many as 400 new aircraft over the next 10 years to revamp its aging fleet.
