Pistachio Exports Earn $1.5b

Iran exported 180,000 tons of pistachio worth $1.5 billion last Iranian year, which ended on March 20, 2015. Deputy minister of agricultural jihad, Jahangir Arab, made the announcement on Wednesday during the inauguration ceremony of a three-day pistachio festival in Damghan, a city in Semnan Province, IRNA reported. Damghan is Semnan’s pistachio hub, accounting for 14,000 of the 16,000 hectares of land under pistachio cultivation.
