More than 28,600 tons of eggs were exported during the first five months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2015), indicating a 31% increase compared to last year’s similar period, announced deputy for livestock affairs at Agricultural Jihad Ministry, Hassan Rokni. The main export destinations were Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Bahrain, each accounting for 75%, 18%, 4%, 2%, and 1% of the total respectively. The official added that annual domestic egg production currently stands at 930,000 tons, noting that Iran can export about 80,000 tons of eggs per year.
