Hormozgan’s palm groves will produce 148,000 tons of dates by the end of the harvest season (October 23, 2015), announced deputy for improvement of plant production at Agricultural Jihad Organization of the province. “Date production is expected to rise by reviving unproductive groves and cultivating tissue culture palm trees,” IRNA quoted Saeed Modarres as saying. The official added that more than 7,000 tons of dates were exported in the first five months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2015) to Persian Gulf littoral states, Central Asia and Europe, indicating a 20% increase compared to the same period of last year.
