Iran will become self-sufficient in red meat in five years and there will be no more imports, says Deputy Minister of Agriculture Hassan Rokni. According to the official, about 60,000 tons of red meat were imported last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2015), indicating a decrease of 30,000 tons compared to a year before. He added that the decrease in imports is expected to continue steadily as production rises, while noting that 785,000 tons of red meat were produced last year, Mehr News Agency reported.
