Iraq’s Minister of Finance Hoshyar Zebari visited Tehran on Saturday and met his Iranian counterpart Ali Tayyebnia to discuss bilateral trade and investment issues. “During this meeting, issues regarding trade, banking transactions and investment were discussed, and three agreements on avoidance of double taxation, customs cooperation and promotion and support of bilateral investments were signed,” IRNA quoted Ali Tayyebnia as saying. The Iranian minister added that the two countries’ annual trade value, including goods transit and tourism, currently stands at $12 billion, noting that the figure can easily increase to $20 billion. Zebari welcomed the prospect of improving trade ties with Iran. “We believe bolstering bilateral trade and cooperation will be significantly beneficial for the two countries,” he said.
