The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s International Business Center will hold the 6th Muslim World Biz Expo in Kuala Lampur October 27-30, the Iranian executive manager of the organization Mohammad Ali Molayi told a press conference on Sunday.

According to Molayi, the main issues to be discussed in the expo are trade and business, higher education, Islamic tourism and cooperation between Muslim countries’ private sectors.

“Among the 57 Muslim countries expected to take part in the event, some are less developed compared to others and are in fact considered as export markets for the more developed countries. Iran, as a country well on its way to development, can use these markets’ potential and meet their Halal product demand through exports,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying.

He added that every year, 10 economic elite from all around the Muslim World are chosen and awarded in this expo, and that an Iranian is present among the elite for the third consecutive year.

This year’s Iranian elite is Gholam-Ali Soleymani known as “the father of Iran’s modern industry”. He is the founder of Solico multinational food company and Kalleh Dairy Company and a member of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mining and Agriculture. Currently owning and operating more than 20 companies, he has cooperated with some of the world’s largest food companies such as Nestle, Danone, FrieslandCampina, Bell and Amy’s.

Soleymani, who was also present in the press conference, said domestic manufacturers must focus on export and try to promote Iranian brands in international markets to fully exploit the opportunities following the lifting of western sanctions imposed against Iran over its nuclear energy program.
