During a meeting between Malaysia’s Ambassador to Iran Raja Nushirwan Zain al-Abedin, who was accompanied by a trade delegation, and the head of Tehran’s Chamber of Trade, Industries, Mining and Agriculture Masoud Khansari on Saturday, the two sides discussed joint venture production of Halal food in Iran. “We seek to be pioneers in Halal food production for Muslims, and we believe in cooperation with Iran’s food industry, we can meet this demand all around the world,” Donyay-e-Eqtesad quoted the Malaysian envoy as saying. Khansari, for his part, welcomed the prospect of this cooperation and said that Iran’s food industry is ready and able to set foot in international markets. Iran primarily exports raisins, dates and pistachios to Malaysia while importing large quantities of palm oil.
