Hide, skin and leather exports have dropped down to half in recent months as a result of high export duties, said the chairman of Hide, Skin and Leather Producers and Exporters Association at the Commission of Export Promotion and Trade Facilitation of Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture. “The government is choking the leather industry’s potential to compete in foreign markets,” IRNA quoted Ali Kashani-Pour as saying. “The government must revise its policies regarding hide, skin and leather exports if the industry is to keep its competitive edge,” he added.
