Tabriz accounts for 60% of leather shoes and 90% of hand-made leather shoes made in Iran, according to the head of Tabriz Shoes and Handbag Union as saying. “Of 3,580 active manufacturing units in Tabriz, 1,810 produce leather products,” Mehr News Agency quoted Alireza Jabarian as saying. He added that 40,000 people are employed in the sector. Jabarian made the comments at the inauguration ceremony of the Second Exhibition of Leather Shoes and Handbags in Hamedan Province.
