Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Mohsen Jalalpour, says an economic boom in the post-sanctions era is unlikely since sanctions account for only 25% of the economic problems. He referred to over-reliance on oil and lack of transparency as the main reasons behind Iran’s economic ills.

“In recent years, the government has spent oil revenues on current expenditures, leading to expansion of the government at the expense of the private sector,” he was quoted by Mehr News Agency as saying.

He urged the government to focus its efforts on creating a competitive and rent-free business environment.
