More than 16,000 tons of pistachios worth about $135 million were exported in the first four months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), indicating a 9-fold increase in terms of volume and 15-fold increase in value compared to the same period of last year. According to Islamic Republic of Iran’s Customs Administration, the main export destinations were the United Arab Emirates, England, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Germany, Uzbekistan, Spain, Australia, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Italy, Turkey, Singapore, Sweden, Chile, Serbia, Iraq, Russia, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Poland, Malaysia, Egypt and India. Pistachio is Iran’s sixteenth biggest export items, ISNA reported.
