Two high-level delegations from South Korea are expected to visit Iran within the next few months, IRNA reported quoting public relations office of the Iran Embassy. The first delegation is headed by Yoo il-ho, the minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport who is expected to arrive late August. The aim of the visit is said to be exploring mutual grounds for economic cooperation and possible joint ventures. Shortly after, another delegation headed by Yoon Sang-jick, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, along with several business delegates will visit Iran for similar purposes. In the meantime, plans are underway for the visit of South Korea’s foreign minister, Yun Byung-se to Iran in the near future. South Korea has been among the few countries that have maintained trade ties with Iran amid sanctions (imposed by the US, EU and UN over Tehran’s nuclear energy program).
