A Vietnamese delegation led by the director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Can Tho Province, Pham Van Quynh visited Mazandaran this week and met with head of the Province’s Agricultural Jihad Organization Delavar Heydarpour to discuss trade and cooperation. “Mazandaran produces more than one million tons of fish every year and accounts for about 12% of the country’s total annual chicken production. The province also ranks first in the country’s rice production, indicating its  potential to not only meet domestic demand but also export substantial amounts of agricultural products,” Mehr News Agency quoted Delavar Heydarpour as saying. Heydarpour pointed to Mazandaran’s readiness to start exports of chicken, eggs, flowers and vegetables to Vietnam and said: “Mazandaran and Can Tho can also cooperate in production and cultivation of rice, given that this is the provinces’ main area of expertise.” The Vietnamese official, for his part, welcomed the prospect of agricultural cooperation with Iran. “Vietnam intends to cooperate with Iran in production of rice and vegetables and expansion of Can Tho’s slaughterhouses,” he added.
