More than 195,000 tons of chicken and eggs and 845,000 tons of dairy products were exported in the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), indicating a 30% increase compared to the same period last year, said deputy minister of agriculture in livestock production affairs, Hassan Rokni. The official pointed to the substantial increase in chicken production and said: “The country no longer needs to import chicken since production is more than enough to meet domestic demand.” He added that Russia has recently joined the ranks of Iranian chicken importers, IRNA reported.
