In a meeting between Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammadreza Nematzadeh and his Afghan counterpart Daud Shah Saba, the Afghan minister expressed his country’s readiness to send a trade delegation to Iran to discus cooperation in the mining sector, announced the head of Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development and Renovation Company, Mehdi Karbasian. “There are numerous fields for cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan in the mining sector. Afghanistan possesses vast mineral reserves, and Iran has the advantage of access to sea lanes via Chabahar Free Trade Zone. This is the perfect opportunity for Afghanistan to access regional and global markets,” Karbasian, who is also deputy minister of industries, mining and trade, was quoted by IRNA as saying. Afghanistan is home to various mineral reserves such as Iron ore, copper, gold, chromite, titanium, lithium, copper, silver, coal, and gemstones.
