More than $140 million worth of goods were imported from the United States in the first half of 2015, showing a 60% increase compared to the similar period a year before, US Census Bureau, a body of Department of Treasury, reported. The lowest value of import was recorded in January at $13.3 million and highest in March at $44.2 million. Iran’s exports to the US, however, remained zero during the six-month period, just like 2014’s corresponding duration. This is while both countries are taking measures to expand bilateral economic ties with the establishment of a joint chamber of commerce following a nuclear deal reached between Iran and world powers on July 14. The deal limits Iran’s nuclear activity in exchange for the removal of sanctions imposed by the US, the United Nations and the European Union.
