About 203,000 tons of bananas were imported in the first four months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), indicating a 60% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Islamic Republic of Iran’s Customs Administration. Import prices have decreased by 20%. Turkey is the biggest exporter of banana to Iran, having exported about 100 tons of bananas worth $71 million during the four-month period. The Philippines and China are also major exporters of the fruit, ISNA reported.
