Tour of Honey Hub

Iran accounts for 4.4% of global honey production and is one of the major exporters of honey, said honeybee expert and researcher at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Fernando Stevan, during a visit to the city of Khoy in West Azarbaijan Province last week. “The beekeeping method used in West Azarbaijan is unique and the result of old traditions and years of experience. Sharing this expertise with other beekeepers and researchers around the world can be highly beneficial,” IRNA quoted the UNIDO official as saying. West Azarbaijan is Iran’s main hub in honey production with an annual production of more than 19,000 tons – 50% of which is produced in Khoy alone.
