Around 170 kilometers of highways will be complete by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2015), the deputy minister of roads and urban development, Ali Nourzad said. According to IRNA, Qom-Mashhad Highway with a length of 152 kilometers, Isfahan-West Highway with a length of 14 kilometers and the remaining part of Hemmat-Karaj Highway with a length of 4.5 kilometers are scheduled to become operational by March 2015, announced Nourzad, who is also the managing director of Construction & Development of Transportation Infrastructure Co. Presently, 711 kilometers of highways are now under construction, which require $2.6 billion for completion, he added. “Up to now, about 2,160 kilometers of highways have been built across the country with a total cost of $5.3 billion.”
