Decline in Fruit Smuggling, Prices

An increase in domestic fruit supplies has led to a significant drop in fruit smuggling, says the head of Fruit and Vegetable Sellers Union. “Fruit prices have dropped considerably. Watermelons are currently sold at 2,000 ($0.07) to 6,000 rials ($0.2), melons at 10,000 ($0.34) to 15,000 rials ($0.51) and cantaloupes at 15,000 ($0.51) to 18,000 rials ($0.61) per kilo,” Tasnim News Agency quoted Hossein Mohajeran as saying.
