The Central Bank of Iran has reported a 12% increase in the producer price index (PPI) in the 12-month period ending June 21, which marks the end of the third Iranian month Khordad, compared to the same period last year. The figure indicates a 7.5% increase compared with the similar month of the previous year. The PPI index (using 2011 as the base year) stood at 214.7 during the month, indicating a slight growth of 1.7% compared with the previous month, Mehr News Agency reported. A closer look at the report shows that all PPI sub-indexes recorded an increase compared with the previous month. Among the sub-indexes, ‘healthcare and social work’ with 5.8%, agriculture, forestry and fishing’ with 2.4% and ‘transportation’ with 2% registered the highest increase compared with a month earlier. According to the report, the ‘healthcare and social work’ sector recorded the highest inflation (39.9%) compared with the similar month of last year.
