About 176,000 tons of goods worth $33 million were exported from the central Semnan Province during the first quarter of the current Iranian year (started March 20), which indicates a 131% increase in value compared to the similar period a year earlier, said director general of Semnan’s Customs Administration, Ali Sad al-Din, as reported by IRNA. The exports included construction materials such as cement, plaster, lead ingots, tiles, insulation coatings and steel rods; minerals the like of ferro silicon, silicon ore and sodium carbonate in addition to home appliances such as air conditioners and water heaters, which were destined for 22 countries, said the official. About 7,000 tons of goods valued at $13.3 million were imported through the province during the period, which shows an increase of 3% in terms of volume and 11% in value compared to the previous year’s similar period.
