At a meeting in the Netherlands, Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jihad Khalil Aqaei-Moqaddam, and Sharon Dijksma, Dutch secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, dealing with agriculture, nature, food quality, tourism and postal affairs,expounded on the expansion of bilateral ties in agriculture, research and training.

Referring to time-honored relations between Iran and the Kingdom of Netherlands, Aqaei-Moqaddam stressed the vitality of sustaining cooperation and holding negotiations on different levels between the two countries, IRNA reported.

Taking stock of the recent meeting between President Hassan Rouhani and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, he added, “Netherlands is one of the most prominent European partners of Iran. We are keen to harness the existing potential and capacities to boost bilateral cooperation, particularly in agriculture, share experiences and increase technical efficiency.”

The Dutch side also appraised the longstanding bilateral ties between Tehran and Amsterdam, and expressed hope to see broadened agricultural collaboration, especially in the field of genetic resources and crop evolution with Iran in the near future.

The two officials also discussed the formation of a joint agricultural workgroup.

Aqaei-Moqaddam traveled to the Netherlands to attend an international conference on agriculture in Amsterdam.
