Since the start of harvest season and under the government’s guaranteed purchase plan, the Agriculture Ministry has bought 3.13 million tons of wheat from farmers in excess of their need, as IRNA reported. The value of purchased wheat stands at 36,553 million rials ($1.25 million at official exchange rate), 28,474 million rials ($975.94) of which have been paid up until now, the report added. Khuzestan with 954,544 tons, Golestan with 751,285 tons and Fars with 409,679 tons top the list of provinces walking the guaranteed purchase line.
