Tax Treaty Talks With Hungary

The first round of negotiations to sign a treaty on avoiding double taxation was held between the governments of Iran and Hungary from June 15-17 in the headquarters of the Iranian National Tax Administration in Tehran. Details of the draft treaty were studied by both countries’ tax authorities and the discussions were scheduled to be resumed in the next round of negotiations, Mehr News Agency reported on Saturday. The Iranian delegation was led by Mohammad Reza Abdi, INTA deputy president of research, planning and international affairs.  Iran is a signatory to the Treaty for the Prevention of Double Taxation with many countries. The treaty, in principle, enables offsetting tax paid in one of two countries against the tax payable in the other, hence preventing double taxation.
