According to an agreement signed by Iranian Ambassador to Algeria Reza Ameri and Algerian Trade Minister Amara Benyounes, Iran is to help Italy build a date processing plant in Algeria by lending its know-how. This trilateral cooperation will include, among other things, the transfer of technology for extracting sugar from dates. “This agreement is the first practical outcome of the recent visit to Iran by the general manager of Algeria’s Chamber of Commerce in May 2015. It is our hope that the deal will see the broadening of ties between the private sectors of Iran and Algeria,” IRNA quoted Ameri as saying. Echoing the same remarks, the Algerian minister called for further economic cooperation between Tehran and Algiers.
