In a meeting with Russia’s trade envoy in Iran, the caretaker of Iran National Carpet Center called for the removal of obstacles in the way of exporting Persian carpets to the neighboring country. A solution needs to be worked out for the recent problems associated with the clearance of hand-woven carpets in Russia, IRNA quoted Hamid Kargar as saying. Andrei Lugansky expressed his country’s willingness to ease the import of Iranian hand-woven carpets. “The Russians treasure Persian carpets. It is our hope to see the back of middlemen, reasonable prices and greater variety,” he said.
