Agricultural exports are set to reach $7.5 billion in the current Iranian year (ending March 19, 2016), says director of export development department at Trade Promotion Organization, Mahmoud Bazari. He mentioned long delays, high storage costs at seaports and high cost of transportation as major obstacles to export of food products, adding that TPO has made provisions to facilitate export of perishable food products. Accordingly, he said, TPO in cooperation with Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines plans to establish new shipping lines within the next two weeks to export Iranian products to Persian Gulf countries such as Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait at subsidized rates.
