Iran and Italy have agreed to establish a joint agricultural committee “in the near future”, announced Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati, as reported by IRNA on Monday. The two countries are to cooperate in research, exchange of germplasm, saplings and seeds among other areas, the minister added. He made the remarks in a meeting with his Italian counterpart Maurizio Martina on the sidelines of Food and Agriculture Organization’s 39th biennial conference being held in the city of Rome, Italy. Expressing Iran’s readiness to boost agricultural exports to Italy, Hojjati officially invited Martina to visit Iran. Accepting the invitation, the Italian minister referred to the meeting as “a turning point in Iran-Italy agricultural relations.”
