High Demand for Iranian Honey

Nearly 5,000 tons of honey were exported to the Persian Gulf countries as well as Turkey during the past Iranian year (ended March 20), said the CEO of Iran’s Beekeepers Union Effat Raisi on Sunday, adding that China is seeking to buy as much in the current year. Turkey was the biggest buyer of Iranian honey last year, having imported more than 3,400 tons. “Foreign customers such as Iraq and Turkey tend to buy Iranian honey in bulk and then re-export it to European countries under their own name,” she was quoted by ISNA as saying. Iran’s total honey production last year amounted to 75,000 tons.
