Russian companies should beef up their efforts to gain a bigger share in the Iranian market or otherwise they will be overtaken by their Asian and western rivals, Iranian Ambassador in Moscow, Mehdi Sanaei, told Russian media group Interfax on Saturday. Noting that western and Asian companies have already started looking for opportunities in the Iranian market since a framework nuclear deal was reached between Iran and the P5+1 (the members of UN Security Council plus Germany) on April 2, Sanaei said Russia could end up taking a backseat if they hesitate to enter the Iranian market. He suggested that the Russians could invest in Iran in areas such as oil, gas and railroad sectors.
