More than 37% of medical equipment used in Iran has been imported, according to Secretary of Iran Industrial Equipment Manufacturers Association (SATSA), ISNA reported. Imaging equipment such as CT scan, MRI, and radiology machines have to be imported, as the manufacturing technology is not available at home yet. About $750 million worth of medical equipment was imported over the past Iranian year (ended March 20), accounting for one third of domestic demand for medical equipment ($2 billion), said Reza Kompani. “It has been planned that relevant manufacturing technologies will also be imported along with the equipment so that Iranian producers can localize those products,” he added.
