Turkmen Ambassador to Tehran, Ahmad Qorbanov, expressed hope that the value of annual trade between Iran’s northern Golestan Province and Turkmenistan will reach $60 million by the end of this year. “Considering Golestan’s favorable climatic conditions, agriculture is a suitable area of cooperation between the two sides,” the envoy said. He made the remarks in a Sunday meeting with head of Golestan chamber of commerce Ramezan-Ali Bahrami. He also referred to a recently-launched transnational railway linking Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and said the troika railway will certainly help boost trade in the region. Iran was among the first countries to recognize Turkmenistan’s independence in 1991.
