The vice president of the Iranian Fisheries Organization announced the Iranian farmed caviar price at 1,700 euro per kilogram. The main export destinations are Spain and France, and Russia is joining them this year. Hossein Abdollahi referred to the ban on sturgeon fishing in the Caspian Sea since 2011, and said more than 40 fishery farms are producing sturgeon fish in Iran, which mainly produce two exotic species of Acipenser and Siberian. Banking facilities are also provided to those who are planning to establish fish farms. About 800 kilograms of caviar, worth $1.2 million, was exported during the past Iranian calendar year (ended march 20).
