The oversupply in the chicken egg market over the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20), inflicted heavy losses on the producers and they are now on the verge of bankruptcy, Eghtesad-News  quoted secretary-general of Iran’s Egg-Laying Hens Association, Farzad Talakesh, as saying. About 70,000 metric tons of chicken eggs were exported last year, up 80 percent compared to a year before. Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Oman, Armenia and Bahrain were the main export destinations. According to the Egg-Laying Hens Association, Iran produces a surplus of 500 tons of eggs on a daily basis.
