Iraq’s Minister of Industry and Minerals, Nasser al-Issawi, called for more investment by the Iranian companies in different sectors of the Iraqi economy, saying Baghdad will provide the investors with land and necessary permissions to launch industrial towns in Iraq. He made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei in Baghdad on Tuesday, IRNA reported. For his part, Rabiei expressed Iran’s readiness to share its technical knowhow with the Iraqis, suggesting that the two sides can launch joint pharmaceutical and cement companies. Rabiei left Tehran for Baghdad on Monday for an official visit to the neighboring country where he met with a number of high-ranking Iraqi government officials, including his Iraqi counterpart Mohammed al-Sudani, with whom a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed aimed at promoting workers’ rights.
