The 202th summit of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Council of Permanent Representatives was held on 11-12 May in the city of Kashan in the central Isfahan Province.  As Mehr news agency reported on Monday, secretary general of ECO, Shamil Aleskerov, head of cultural institute of the ECO, Eftekhar Aref Hossein were present in the summit. During the two-day meeting, the participants discussed economic cooperation in various areas as well as expansion of political and cultural relations between the member states. ECO is an intergovernmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey for the purpose of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states. In 1992, the organization expanded to include seven new members, namely Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.  ECO also aims to develop human resources and expand transportation and communications in the 10 member countries.
