Tehran is seeking to increase trade with Tunis, head of Iran’s Trade promotion Organization (TPO) Valliollah Afkhamirad said in a meeting with Tunisian ambassador to Tehran Qazi bin Sali on Monday, urging the two sides to speed up efforts to implement a preferential trade agreement (PTA) signed back in December. “Last year, the volume of bilateral trade amounted to $30 million. Although it increased compared with previous years, it is still unimpressive given the potential to significantly boost mutual commerce,” he was quoted by IRNA as saying. He added that Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company (ITMC) is ready to launch an assembly line in Tunis. For his part, the Tunisian envoy said that his country plans to import Iranian-made cars in the near future.
