Iran’s Customs Chief Masoud Karbasian arrived in Baku on Monday to meet with top Azerbaijani officials, including the Azeri minister for economy and industry, and minister for emergencies. In their meetings, Iranian and Azeri officials will discuss the setting up of permanent customs offices in the Iranian border areas of Astara and Bilesuar. The agreement for the new customs regime between the two countries was reached at an inter-governmental commission in August. Both countries plan to expand their customs agreement by signing the document. The previous customs deal between Tehran and Baku was signed in 2002.
