As it was predicted earlier the preferential tariff agreement (PTA) deal between Tehran and Ankara, which came into force in January, is working more to the benefit of Turkey than Iran. Turkey’s exports to Iran increased by 32% during the three months following the deal, while Iran’s exports to Turkey decreased by 26% during the same period, Tasnim news agency reported. The PTA contract drew severe criticism by Iranian experts, arguing that the government’s policy to reduce import tariffs on Turkish goods will harms domestic manufacturers.
