Egg Exports at Record HighEgg Exports at Record High

About 70,000 metric tons of chicken eggs were exported in the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20), registering a record high compared to the preceding years, Eghtesad news quoted the head of egg laying chicken farmers’ union, Reza Torkashvand as saying. The official added that the exports increased by 80 percent compared to a year before and that Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Oman, Armenia and Bahrain were the main destinations.  He also expressed hope that in the current year Russia will be added to the list of chicken egg importers from Iran, considering recent implementation of chicken farming standards demanded by Russia. The government is willing to inject $18 million into the sector in order to increase chicken egg exports to 100,000 metric tons this year, he added.
