The total economic value of Iran’s farmed animals including livestock, poultry, fish and honeybee is estimated at 1,030 trillion rials ($31 billion) by head of Iran Veterinary Organization, Mehdi Khalaj, speaking at the commemoration of the World Veterinary Day on Saturday. Noting that Iran Veterinary Organization is the only institution authorized to approve imports and exports of livestock products, the official said the organization issued 31,000 health certificates for 70 different commodities in the past Iranian year (ended March 20), IRNA reported.  He warned against unauthorized import of livestock from the neighboring Pakistan, saying this could infect the domestic farmed animals.
