Tehran is willing to expand commercial and economic ties with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran’s ambassador to Sarajevo, Seyed Hossein Rajabi, said in a meeting with Bosnian Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Minister Mirko Sarovic, IRNA reported on Saturday. The Iranian diplomat also expressed the Iranian private sector’s interest in expanding economic cooperation with Sarajevo. Sarovic, for his part, called for the expansion of banking relations and cooperation between the chambers of commerce of the two countries. Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina have sought to develop bilateral relations in recent years. The two countries’ officials signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) for economic cooperation at their first joint economic commission meeting in Sarajevo back in May 2010.
