Russia will soon be added to the list of countries importing Iranian caviar, ISNA quoted deputy head of aquatics at Iran’s Fisheries Organization, Hossein Abdolhai as saying. “Caviar costs around 60 million rials per kilogram ($1,800 based on market exchange rate) and is currently exported to some European countries including France and Spain,” he said, adding that Iran produced about 1.5 metric tons of the product over the past Iranian year (ended March 20). According to the official, Iran has devised a scheme to increase caviar production by expanding more sturgeon farming. The plan is expected to increase caviar production by three times in the current year.
