Iran is ready to link Bulgaria’s railway network with those of China and East Asian countries, ISNA quoted Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi as saying on Tuesday. He made the remarks in a meeting with Bulgarian deputy minister of transport, information technology and communications Anton Ginev. “Iran and Bulgaria share a common history in railway and road transportation, which can be capitalized on for further expansion of cooperation,” Akhoundi added. He noted that after Turkey, Bulgaria is the closest country that can provide Iran with access route to Europe, adding that the closest route for Bulgaria’s access to the Sea of Oman and the Persian Gulf also passes through Iran.
