The two-day technology conference titled ‘German Technology meets Iranian Textile and Carpet’ organized by the German Engineering Association (VDMA) in Tehran ended on Wednesday. The conference aimed to bring the German and Iranian textile and carpet related industries closer, in addition to presenting technical topics.

As part of her address to the conference, chairperson of VDMA Textile Machinery Association, Regina Bruckner expressed hope that Iran’s trade relations with other countries would be enhanced following the removal of the sanctions – imposed by the West over the country’s nuclear energy program. “This will result in a win-win trade relation with Germany,” IRNA quoted her as saying.

She underlined the capacities in Iran’s textile industry, pointing that the Iranian industrialists, particularly in the textile and carpet sectors, could significantly improve exports with the help of modern technologies and machinery.

Referring to the strong presence of Iranian textile industries in the two-day technology conference, she said it indicated the Iranians’ interest in Germany technology.

Experts from 35 leading textile machinery and components manufacturers from Germany attended the conference to present practice-oriented technology topics along the entire textile chain in two parallel sessions: spinning (natural and man-made fiber), twisting, circular and flat knitting, warp knitting, weaving, nonwoven finishing and dyeing machinery, measurement and control equipment and garment technology. According to VDMA website, more than 800 Iranian industrialists and decision-makers attended each day of the conference.

The VDMA is one of the largest industrial associations in Europe and represents over 3,100 member companies in the engineering industry. It covers the entire engineering sector from component manufacturers, machine builders, plant erectors, system suppliers and system integrators through to service providers. The association is based in Frankfurt and has political offices in Brussels  and Berlin.
