More than $6 billion worth of commodities were traded via border areas of the northwestern Kurdistan Province over the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20), which indicates a 52 percent increase compared to a year before, Mehr news agency quoted head of Kurdistan’s industry, mine and trade organization Mohammad Dare Vazami as saying on Sunday. The official added that 862,000 metric tons of different commodities like vegetables, fruit, ceramic products, salt, sulfur, soil, gypsum, lime, cement and dairy products, valued at $481 million, were exported through the region.
