Close to 100 metric tons of tragacanth gum, valued at $6 million, was exported from Isfahan Province to European and Asian countries during the past Iranian year (ended March 20), showing a decrease of 20 tons compared with the preceding year, Reza Shahbazi, a senior official at the Forest, Range and Watershed Organization of Isfahan Province said on Saturday. The plunge in the export is mainly due to prolonged dry spells and price fluctuations in the market, he was quoted by IRNA as saying. Tragacanth gum is one the most important products of the province, and it is exported to countries such as Germany, the UK, India and the United Arab Emirate.
